Introduce project theme and parameters.

Discussion of Fred Wilson article and the politics of display.

Overview process:
1. Decide on content
2. Identify design goals
3. Pick site structure to met design goals
4. Design screen layout to facilitate wayfinding and navigation
5. Test, evaluate, critique
6. Revise and Document

Divide teams.

Teams disperse to visit Spurlock or website.

Homework (see questionnaire below):
- have selected your content and scope (consider site architecture).
- decide on some operating questions or values for the site . print out images for your selection
- bring printouts of artifacts to class for use in prototyping

1. What will your group's chosen subject matter be?
(ie. the whole museum? a selection of pieces? a specific collection or two?)

2. What will be your design goal(s)?
- What position will you take in relation to debates over the display of these objects?
(ie. We hope to call attention to the labors of a single maker, rather than to all the things made like it in a particular place and time.)

3. What classification and organizational structure will you use, if any?
(ie. by country, by year, by material, by form or function, etc)

4. What will your site architecture be?
(ie. hub and spoke, strict hierarchy, etc. - for some common examples, see this site)

4. How does your chosen site architecture best achieve your design goal(s)?
